Whilst the Fiji islands are located south west of the pacific ocean, they are actually in the southern tropics, situated between the equator and the tropic of Capricorn. The largest of the islands is called Viti Levu, and the second largest island is called Vanua Levu. These are just two of the three hundred and thirty islands that make up the entire Fiji archipelago. Only one hundred of the islands are inhabited. It is desirable to get Fiji travel advice before booking the flight. Fiji and its islands is a wonderful place too visit, which has lovely beaches and blue, green lagoons.
It's always preferable to go during the dry season, which is anytime between May and September. Please note that humidity levels are also at their highest during this time. All year round the temperature is normally balanced and warm. The rainy season is during November to April, although sudden tropical outbursts of showers can be seen at any time of the year.
The domestic luggage limit is fifteen kilograms on flights to this country, although, it is best to travel as light as possible. Do make sure that any items of clothing are the lightest possible, trying to stick to natural fabrics, such as cotton and linen, rather than man made fabrics which will make the traveller feel very hot and sticky.
For people who love scuba diving and fishing then the Fiji islands can offer so much. There are dive shops everywhere and some operated by professional dive companies. They can offer five star diver training facilities complete with scuba training pools.
There are too many courses to mention here, although a medical question form must be completed before the course begins. There are courses for children of all ages, and if a child is over the age of ten years, they can actually be trained to dive into the ocean alongside a professional instructor. Most children find that this is a fantastic experience. For adults, there are quite a few courses and after completion each person receives a certificate which is recognised worldwide.
If fishermen or people who enjoy angling as a pastime would like to fish, then this country is perfect. There are many fish to be caught here, some of the fish are game fish and include the famous barracuda, mahimahi, tuna, giant trevally, the marlin and the sail fish.
Many different fishing techniques are used all around the world. Some of the techniques used here are casting, jigging, down rigging and trolling. There are so many different fishing charters to go on, although, they will need to be reserved and paid for prior to the event. Good advice is always given on all of the fishing charters.
So, why visit Fiji? Well it has so much to offer everyone, from its beauty, to its people, to its culture. It truly is a garden of paradise and needs to be seen to be appreciated.
